{six} things FRYday

Since opening blog posts is always so awkward, I’m going to start this one with a random poem I just pulled out of my buttocks exactly 2.487 seconds ago.

Hello Friday, my brain is fried.
It sort of remsembles a pizza pie.
All doughy, red and full of mush,
Please let me have a “chemistry flush.”
Saturday was meant for hobbies and fun,
not evil homework and lack of sun.
Guess I’ll have to wait for summer,
32ish days left, what a bummer.

My noggin must be fried if I’m resorting to such bizarre poems…

Or maybe because it’s crunch time….I have a CRAP ton of crap to do this weekend. No bueno. So I thought I’d dwell on some positives to get stress off ma mind for a bit :)

#1 I totally forgot but Tuesday marked one year since I began blogging!

I love y’all so much!! <3

#2 All weathermen in the state of Texas are about to have obsolete jobs…I have a strong feeling it’s gonna be getting toasty and humid reallllll soon. Guess I gotta enjoy the cool breezes while I can!

#3 Tessa’s post inspired me SO MUCH. With all the stress this week, I seem to have been pushin my workouts a bit too hard…almost like I’m punishing myself for not being perfect when it comes to assignments or being able to tackle my to-do list all at once. Thank you Type A personality. So, I’m following Tessa’s lead and taking an entire week of rest next week. I think it’ll be a challenge to learn to relax and deal with stress in a way other than working out, but if Tessa’s up for a challenge, I am too :)

#4 I saw this gadget on TV the other day and want it. I mean, who wouldn’t want a nifty little chart with data on their sleep ready the moment you wake up?! The price blows for a college kid though…Christmas? :D

#5 I have a chem exam today at 11….WHO GIVES A TEST THE WEEK BACK FROM SPRING BREAK?!?! Cruel, just plain cruel.

#6 March 30th is a crazy, wacky holiday day! Here are some that made me smile:

  • National hot dog day
  • National take a walk in the park day
  • Van Gogh’s birthday
  • Egg Incubator birthday
  • National “I am in control” day

Hmmmm…. guess that means today I’ll be eating Van Gogh decorated hot dogs in the park while juggling incubated eggs and shouting “I AM IN CONTROL” :D

I think I should just stop now, this is getting weird…

Hope you all have a lovely, random, and fun weekend!

  4. Gosh I can’t believe I missed the egg incubator birthday! What is my life coming to? Haha. Happy 1 year blogging anniversary! I’m so happy I found your blog along the way. :)

  5. I loved tessa’s post too! I considered taking a week off myself but instead I’ve just been cutting way back on the intensity and taking more rest days.. These past 2 weeks have been a blast doing so! Good luck getting all your stuff done this weekend one step at a time :)

  7. i know you’ll do awesome and i’m glad you’re taking care of yourself with a rest week. i do the same thing with exercise … it’s like i’m exercising out my demons but instead it only ends up hurting me more! so glad you’re finding that balance!

    • Thanks for the kind words my friend :) It’s like you took a snapshot outta my brain– I think I do it to “get the demons out” as well. You want a cleanse, but you just end up deeper in the dirt…pretty vicious cycle!

  8. I feel your pain! Cant wait for the semester to come to an end.
What a great challenge, i suggest humour for de-stressing,some You-Tube videos are like the free prozac :P jk! good luck,

  9. I totally love that pic about meeting lots of people but living so far away!!! It made me smile and realise that no matter the distance I have people that care about me and share similar interests. I know your brain is fried…mine is too from all the study this week! But I hope you manage to get everything you need to done. And even if you don’t just remember it’s not the end of the world (I’m a type A personality too, and it’s taken a LOT of effort for me to just relax. But I know it’s essential!). Have a great weekend :)

  10. You make me laugh so much; love the mental picture of you doing the egg-juggling thing, the comment about pulling the poem out of your buttocks and the random six things!
I hope the test went well and happy (blogging) birthday :-)

  11. Girl,I hope your exam went well!
I also loved Tessa’s post lately, and I think I definitey want… No,I NEED to join this challenge. I am seriously overdoing myself recently and can feel my health suffering which is no good at all :(
    Anyhow,I hope you have a great weekend,too,Alexandra! :)

  12. This post was so random! LOVED IT. First off, I wanted to say happy one year of blogging! That is amazing. I have loved following you and your story. You have come such a long way and I am so proud of you. Also, I am happy you are taking a week of rest. Sometimes that’s all that we need and it does wonders. Good luck on your exam today! You’re a litle braniac so I know you will do amazing :)

  13. Yey for 1 year! You old wise blogger you ;)

And about Tessa’s post– I think that’s AMAZING that you’re making the commitment to take a break too. Relying on exercise as a stress relief can be a great thing, but relying on it completely is a whooleee different story. I cant wait to hear how it goes!

  14. This was the most random post ever. LOVED IT! First off, congrats on your blogging anniversary! That is amazing! Also, I am happy you are taking this challenge on an resting for an entire week. 15. Wahoooo congrats on the one year! How exciting we both started ours around the same time :)
First, thank you for the mention about my exercising issues… and that you are taking time off too! That is just amazing and commendable and will honestly help me out knowing you are doing this too!! Thank you love :) I am excited to hear your progress with it
Loving the poem too, you never cease to crack me up :D
    Have a most glorious weekend!

  16. It’s been way to long since I’ve commented on your blog!! But I did read about Corpus Christi so major congrats on finding such a great college :)

I love your little poem – it’s so true! When is your poem book arriving in bookstores??? ;)
And I love those lines by Marilyn Monroe. Definitely what I needed!

  17. Haha, you crack me up!! Congrats on the 1 year of blogging..This silly post is exactly what I needed to start my Friday, I couldn’t even bring myself to post today! So glad I’ve met you, you make me smile every day! :) Good luck on your test!!

  18. LOL! no lie, I thought that poem was pretty legit. If the whole marine biology thing doesn’t work out… :-D and YAY for sunshine, but boooooo for exams – I always had some the week after break too, those are the WORST because, who studies over break?? yeah, no. And I’m definitely proud of you for taking on the rest-week challenge! This is my first week back to workouts (easing back into it!) after two weeks off, and man those were tough weeks! But it REALLY made me appreciate things like sleeping in, afternoon naps in the sun, going for long walks, etc. It actually really helped me chill out and calm down haha. Hope it does the same for you! :-D

  19. Hahaha I’m loving that poem! Stress makes me do crazy things too. I tend to make up songs and sing them out loud. ;)

Happy 1 year of blogging!!! I’m so glad I met you this year. Your blogs is one of my favourites to read because it always makes me laugh! And you have killer food ideas. <3

Good luck with all your work this weekend!

  21. Hahahahh you’re a poet but you just don’t know it :) ! That last picture of u is priceless! Sounds like a great idea to deem next week as a rest week: as much as I don’t want to admit it, finding time to work out when I am busy/life is super hectic only contributes to my stress levels…no bueno!

    • Whoops I posted from work blog…either way it’s me :)
