Fi…Twelve Things Friday?

Mornin’!

Soooo I was gonna do Five Things Friday, but it kinda turned into 12 things Friday…oops

Ahh well, you can blame my mush-cake, vacay brain haha

Christmas Break plans:

1. Shop at toy store for salvation army donation

2. Hit up the thrift store

3. Shop/eat at Whole Foods

that's my kinda cat

4. Grocery trip to Central Market

5. See War Horse and bring tons of Kleenex (I’m the biggest horse lover)

6. Bake/make nut butters up the wazoo–I’ve been bookmarking so many bloggy recipes!

7. Eat copious amounts of shrimp

favorite meal from home ever--broccoli, shrimp, and a sweet potato doused in pb

8. Go to Costco with my mom to see if a membership is worth it (it’s like 20 minutes away)

9. Make waffles (my mom found her old waffle iron and I haven’t had any since I was like 6)

10. Go see the Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art–my mom’s an art history major and she LOVES his work/fashion and my dad and I love art in general, so it’s a win-win-win.

you gotta admit that's pretty cool

11. Go shopping for a much needed new pair of shoes. My current 8 year old ancient converse have a massive hole in the bottom  I’m thinkin about these…

Nike Free Run+ 2 Men's Running Shoes - Black/White-Anthracite

12.Cherish EVERY second of being with my parents and dogs…especially at Christmas Eve church and on Christmas morning!

What are you looking forward to over break? Any other horse fans out there who’ll be sobbing like a baby at War Horse with me?

  1. Yay for being done, for the holidays and for Christmas!!
I adore waffles, haven’t had any in ages, might have to come up with a festive version for a super indulgent breakfast :-)
The Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibit sounds amazing, enjoy that!
And yes yes yes to cherishing those wonderful moments with the family, I hope you have a lovely holiday gorgeous! :-)

  2. I’m so jealous you’re done with finals andd home already! I have 2 days left!! Sounds like you have a great vacay ahead of you!! I’ve never seen warhorse but I want to really bad! let me know how it is!!

  3. I am kinda torn on Costco. My parents have a membership, so I get to go. However, I don’t know if I would pay for the membership myself unless I was getting some big ticket items. Having said that, I kinda want to go today haha….

  4. I’m excited for my brother to come home! :) I personally love Costco. You can get Clif bars, luna bars, huge packages of dried and good quality fresh and frozen fruit, magazines, books, and pretty much everything you can imagine except houses. Maybe. Have a good weekend!! Oh btw it’s so great you’re buying toys for salvation army.

  5. Have a great holiday… I want to see the film and the stage play of War Horse, the book’s brilliant but I imagine I’ll be howling too :-)
I love prawns too, especially those giant ones – and I love that waffle picture!

  6. That sounds like an EPIC winter break indeed! Whole Foods and shrimp and nut butters and costco nom nom nom! I’m totally looking forward to the Christmas Eve service at church too, its totally one of my fave nights of the year!

  7. Fly me in so I can join you please?! I want in on these plans! I’ve never been to a thrift store, but I’ve always wanted to go to one. Whole Foods is just a win all around. Toy store is too, especially since you can indulge in your inner child and share some happiness with an actual child! Baking and nut butter making would definitely be on top of my list! Oh and Costco is so worth it :)

    ps. I love your hat.

  8. want to know another reason why we’re so freaky similar? i just got fitted for some new running shoes & i LOVE them!!! i was in dallas a few years ago and i went to that central market – so freaking awesome! have you ever noticed how attractive the customers are there? it’s like they have to be pretty to shop there!

  9. YAY! You’re doneeee. :)
I love that Whole Foods and waffles made it onto your Christmas to-do list. And having access to Costco is one of my favorite things about coming home to visit! I don’t have a membership of my own but I’ve definitely been contemplating getting one soon.
I cannot WAIT to see War Horse. I’m going on Sunday! I saw the Off-Broadway production of it when I was in New York a few months ago and it was absolutely unbelievable. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen!

  10. #3, 9, and 12 are definitely on my list of things to do too! I’m sooo excited to go home and be within 20 minutes of a WF again! :D

Other things I want to do this break are cook a bunch of awesome dinners for my family, go skating, and spend at least a day or two being a complete and total couch potato. ;) Haha!

  11. That sounds like a fun holiday! And exciting about the waffle maker too! I’ve never had one but I love me some waffles with strawberries and whipped cream mmm!!

I am going home to Australia for Christmas to see the family :)

  12. Awe I love this list..especially #12! I miss being in college and getting a month off and being so excited to do allll these things (but let’s face it, for me all I did was lounge around on the couch haha). It’s great that you are going to do all that!

I also love how you plan to eat copious amounts of shrimp..love me some shrimp! That reminds me..I have some in the freezer! woo hoo!! haha

  13. Sounds like you are going to have a GREAT Christmas break, so many exciting plans!
How do you bake/make nut butter?!… that is something I would love to learn, you should share that one on your blog! :)
Hope you have a great time home, and have a great Christmas!

    • I actually made some pistachio butter the other day and I had a post for it! I think it was on a Monday if you want to find it! :D All I did was grind up the pistachios in a food processor until they got smooth :) It’s easy and super fun!!!

  14. I know myself too well – I can’t go see that movie. I would be an emotional wreck! I so miss the days of Christmas break, and Spring break, and Summer break . . . oh well, being out in the working world has its perks too . . . I just can’t think of any at the moment! Love your blog and wishing you a wonderful holiday.

  15. I’m totally making waffles too! I love Target’s mixes, especially the gingerbread and chocolate peppermint kinds! And Whole Foods is always a given :P

Hope you’re having a fabulous break so far!

  16. can I go thrift shopping with you?!!! I seriously adore doing that. SO much fun, and I always find something amazing. Like the dourney and bourke scarf I got for $3!! Is there anything better than a great deal? (besides a great plate of food of course!)

  17. Ahh love everything that you’re going to do over break! I love horses too, and I’m pretty sure that I will cry when I see War Horse! My post today is actually about what I’m looking forward to over break :) . Hope you have an awesome day love! And that pic of twilight about the waffles is too funny haha

  18. Ummm wow we are on the same brain wave lengths here woman! First of all… yes please to seeing War Horse! I briefly talked about my love of horses on zeee blog today! AND, bookmarking so many fellow blogger recipes, yes! Cannot wait for kitchen escapades to commence :D

  19. you’re a horse lover??? ME TOO have we discusssed this before??!! I have ridden all my life, I had two great horsies but now I don’t have any.. it sucks. I turned into the ‘grown up’ (ye right) that ten year old me VOWED never to become.. too busy for horses. Also I live in the city at the moment so that doesn;t help. But when I finish studying… getting a horse is number 1 on my list!!

  20. Such good plans for vacation! You are going to find the best stuff at the thrift stores, I just know it. It’ll be like a Spongebob bowl and a My Little Pony lunchbox or something awesome.

I get to go home tomorrow and live it up too!!!!!! Yayyy vacaaayyy

  21. We have similar fave meals…although I would replace the shrimp with salmon :) ! Enjoy using the waffle machine…it’s the best! Waffles > pancakes! Sounds like you have a great agenda planned! My sister and bro in law arrive in Mumbai tonight which I’m excited about! From here onwards, it’s going to be an influx of friends and family flying in- woo!
