Good morning and Happy Memorial Day everyone!
I hope your day’s filled with family, friends, good food, and appreciation for the men and women who have died on our behalf.
My plans for the day?
1. New weight training split. To change things up, I’m turning my 3 days split into 4 day with upper body on Monday and Thursday, and lower body on Tuesday and Friday, with abs and cardio on Wednesday and *maybe* Saturday.
Since I don’t have class today, I woke up at 5:30 to pump some iron! My fave time to workout!! Here is my new Monday routine~
Superset-4×6-8
Bench Press
Bent over Rows
Dumbbell Shoulder Press-3×10-12
Superset-3×10-12
Incline Bicep Curl
Overhead Extension
Rotator cuff Internal Rotation-3×12
I cooled down with some full body stretching and a few yoga moves, like child’s pose and sun salute. Whew, it got me energized to start off my day right!
2. Experimenting in the kitchen. Imma be cooking up a storm today to get some food ready for my commuting next week! MMMMMM And I can’t wait to test out some new snack ideas…

snack time--1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/4 cup soynuts, buttload of strawberries (i already ate most of them haha)
3. Chillin with the rents and the g-ma. Later, we’re going out to eat at Red Lobster to celebrate Memorial Day with my grandma. She’s 93, an extremely southern Louisianan, and one heck of a seafood loving war vet. Her husband was a Captain in the Navy and she was a WAC in WW2 (Women’s Army Corps). I wish my grandpa were still alive, I never got to meet him, but my family says our personalities and likes/dislikes are almost identical. So, since I can’t meet him, let’s celebrate what he and my grandma did for our country!
I’m just stoked to go to Red Lobsta!! AHHH that’s my favorite restaurant
Their cold pre-dinner salads always get my palate jumpin’

nothing to do with the restaurant, just EPIC
Tomorrow, I’ll post what I ordered–I’m still debating between grilled Trout or Flounder…but I’ll have to see what other fresh fish they’ll have when we go tonight
4. Eat Sunflower Seed Butter like it’s my job. They need to make a warning label on the jar–”Warning: Product has the tendency to be consumed in larger than life quantities at one sitting.” I’m OBSESSED with it. GAAAHHH

Don’t get me wrong, PB is still probably my favorite, BUT SSB is rising in the ranks very rapidly.

As a little kid, Sunflower Seeds were the only nut I ate…so much that I developed an extreme, rash-producing allergy to them….thank God I grew out of that because my addiction is back in full swing haha
5. Pray. I want to pray for Joplin’s families stricken with grief. I want to pray for the troops still fighting to protect America’s civilians. I want to pray for the flood victims by the Mississippi River. I want to pray for the hungry children all around the world–they don’t deserve to be starving while some gluttons waste huge amounts of food. I want to pray for the churches and missionaries sacrificing their lives to spread the Gospel. I want to pray for anyone struggling in ED recovery.

But mostly, I want to pray for all of you—that y’all have a blessed, amazing day with your family and friends enjoying every second of this beautiful life we’ve been given!!
Have a great one!
How are you celebrating this day? Are you celebrating with any veterans? What’s your favorite time of day to workout?
Both of my parents were in the Navy (that is how they met!) so I have spent the day with them and others from my church.. we went fishing!
I hope red lobster was DELISH! I know what you mean about having a relative that is just like you, but you never got to meet. One day.. up in the sky
Keep on prayin! Way to be
Aww that’s so cool about your parents! I’m such a goober for love stories like that
hi sweetie! hahaa! the lobster car and the baby made me go—->
—>:-)—->
so funny!
can we just talk about how much I LOVE SSB!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
okay. you must think I’m crazy now
I only recently began to eat fish and I actually saw a Red Lobster (the restaurant, not the creature) today and told my mom that I might consider going there.
as for me, I dig the morning workouts usually although today I slept until 730? so late for me so I did an afternoon one on our retro nordic trak. haha
ive only been to red lobster once and i was hooked immediately by their biscuits, they’re SO GOOD. but so SALTY
Red Lobsters rolls are to die for. They are dangerous because I could eat just those as my meal! What a great way to honor your grandma and grandpa! The picture of that baby in the PB is awful! I would loose my head if I walked into that haha. I’m not fit to be a mother..not yet at least. Today I plan to study, and maybe I’ll be lucky to experiment a bit in the kitchen too! My fav time to workout is usually morning to get it out of the way, or whenever I am feeling an extra burst of ENERGY!
Jealous of your workout!! I dont have any gym access, so dumbells are all I have to work with. Ive really been learning the improtance of bodyweight training though, and its been tons of fun. Plus I have my kettlebell, aka my other boyfriend
Totally agree with you about praying for those affected by the horrid storms. I feel so so grateful to live in Cali. We have never really had to deal with anything like that, I can only imagine how devasting that it. I pray that our nation rises up and helps them get through this!
Do you usually do cardio or do you focus more on strength training? I’m trying to get away from sooo much cardio but it’s hard cause it’s been my “stress” reliever but since my back is injured I’m trying to find a few other things to do. okay enough of my rambling.
I have never tried sunbutter! I hear people raveraverave about it all the time but I’m always worried I won’t like it after I just spent 5$ on a jar of sunbutter.
and I LOVE redlobster too I could eat fish errrry night if it wasn’t so expensive.
I focus more on strength training
I’m have a short attention span, so I can never do lots of cardio on machines because of my boredom hahaha! I do like to walk outside though. You’d really enjoy strength training if you wanted to take a break from cardio for your back, it’s really fun and adds some variety!
I was the exact same way about sunbutter. Then one day I was like heck, let’s do this! Best decision ever!! You should totally do it if you like sunflower seeds!!
